AR Filtrazioni extraction systems for fumes produced during industrial sublimation printing
Sublimation defines the process that transfers the colors on materials by use of heat. During this transfer, fumes and odors develope. AR Filtrazioni has the solution to pollutants produced during sublimation printing processes.
The smoke and fume extractor suitable for sublimation printing
Thermal sublimation or thermal transfer is a technology used by some printers. It uses a process of color transfer, on paper or plastic film, based on the use of heat. In these printers, cartridges in polymer form contain solid state colour. It is heated at high temperatures 200 ° C, sublimating and then flowing towards the support or attacked surface, fixing itself.
More precisely, the communicative image is printed directly on the polyester fabric, once printed, the fabric is inserted inside a calender whose carpet comes into contact with a 20 cm diameter steel cylinder, heated with oil at 200 ° C.
The Sublimation process allows to fix the printed color to the texture of the fabric, just as if the filament of the texture was colored.
During the overheating process fumes and odors develop.
The main pollutants produced in micro-mists aerosols and fumes during the printing process are:
– Colors
– Glycol
– COV
The problem of printing machine fumes if not held
The volatility of polluting particles such as industrial fumes, micro mists and aerosols, solid or liquid, creates various problems for factories, operators and printing machines.
First of all, they negatively affect the health of the air and the health and hygiene conditions of the operators, in particular at the respiratory level, since the particles smaller than 0.3 microns can reach the pulmonary alveoli, compromising the respiratory tract. In contact with the epidermis, they create skin irritations, dermatitis and redness.
From the standpoint of production, micro-dust and oil mists pollution in the workshop considerably reduces the productivity and in particular the efficiency of the sublimation printing machines, since the stratification of pollutants invalidates the precision and tolerance of the measuring instruments, with the onerous consequence of having to increase maintenance on the most delicate components.
Without forgetting any possible fines deriving from current regulations, which impose a concentration limit for oil mists in the workplace.
The best system for the abatement of fumes, exhalations and odors is an active carbon stage preceded by a very high efficiency pre-filtration H13 / 14. The pollution elements SOV and COV, thanks to this depuration technology, go through a filtering stage of active carbon.
Thanks to its porosity, activated carbon absorbs and hold most of the organic substances; for this reason it is used in all industrial filters for the removal of solvents and odors in many sectors and applications.
Thanks to a mechanical prefiltration, the efficiency and durability of the last active carbon cell is longer.
