PRESS MACHINES
AR FILTRAZIONI | PRESS MACHINES
The filtration solution for all pollutants deriving from press machines
Press machine is used for applying continuously and progressively pressure to a metal surface in order to shear or deform the material placed in the mold.
The very high heat generated during this metal processing, produces fumes and aerosols.
AR Filtrazioni has the solution for filtration and purification of oil mists produced.
The mist collector for hot/cold presses/printers
Press machine is used for applying continuously and progressively pressure to a metal surface in order to shear or deform the material placed in the mold.
How are oil mists and fumes created during hot stamping, cold stamping or shearing?
Cold forging
Cold forging is used for small objects and large production batches, for example screws and bolts, solid or perforated or semi-perforated rivets and special parts.
Specific presses compress the material, usually in the form of a “pad” at room temperature until the desired shape, by a negative shape mold of the piece. The dimensional accuracy of the object obtained is high and usually does not require additional processing and finishes.

During the pad deformation phase, the material overheats strongly; the residual protective grease/spray and coolant remaining on the surface of the workpiece throughout the production chain evaporate.
At this stage, the use of an AR Filtrazioni oil mist cleaner is essential.
Hot stamping
Hot stamping is used for small and medium-sized objects and medium and large production batches, for example mechanical structural components.
After preheating the material is pressed, forging it in a mold to the desired shape, having the negative shape of the piece. Because of the limited dimensional accuracy, usually it is necessary to intervene with mechanical processes and additional finishes.

In both phases, fumes and aerosols are created due to the evaporation of all the substances of the protective grease/spray residues and coolant oils remaining on the surface of the workpiece throughout the production chain.
At this stage the use of an AR Filtrazioni mist collector is essential.
Shearing
Shearing is used to produce sheet metal products or metal strips by a mold. The product obtained is usually characterized by maintaining the thickness of the metal throughout its development.
It is made at room temperature, in machines using abundant spry coolant to facilitate cutting. It allows very high precision and production batches of any size. The products obtained can vary from the small size of a washer to the bonnet of a car.

Simplifying we can say that these processes exploit the ductility of metals to allow deformation. During this type of mechanical processing volatile pollutants are created in three phases:
1) The use of spray coolants on the piece surfaces before or during the metal working;
2) The use of detaching substances on the molds/pieces to facilitate processing;
3) During deformation, the molecular structure is put under stress changing its shape. the material heats up, bringing the pieces to very high temperatures and producing industrial fumes and aerosols from evaporation/combustion of protective grease/spray residues and from residual coolant on the surface of the piece worked during the whole production chain.
The problem of oil mists-dusts-fumes if not held in mechanical workshops.
The volatility of polluting particles such as industrial fumes, oily mists and aerosols, whether solid or liquid, entails and creates various problems for metalworking companies, operators and machine tools.
First of all, they negatively affect the health of the air and the health and hygiene conditions of the operators, in particular at the respiratory level, since the particles smaller than 0.3 microns can reach the pulmonary alveoli, compromising the respiratory tract.
Not only that, in contact with the epidermis, they create skin irritations, dermatitis and redness.
From the standpoint of production, micro-dust and oil mists pollution in the workshop considerably reduces the productivity and in particular the efficiency of the machine tools, since the stratification of pollutants invalidates the precision and tolerance of the measuring instruments, with the onerous consequence of having to increase maintenance on the most delicate components.
Dusts, oil mists and aerosols not filtered and purified, make the floor slippery, dirty the surfaces of the machine tools and the walls of the shed, on which they settle.
Without forgetting any possible fines deriving from current regulations, which impose a concentration limit for oil mists in the workplace.
Italian TLV limit 5 mg / m3
more restrictive ACGIH limit 0.5 mg / m3
